Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Park
Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mannie passed away peacefully at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital on February 1, 2021. She was surrounded by many of her loving family throughout the final steps of her journey.
Mary “Mannie” Elizabeth Park (Haberl), born January 19, 1932 to Herbert William and Elizabeth Mary Haberl in Montreal, Quebec. Mannie became a registered nurse in Montreal before moving out to western Canada where she and Pops started their family life. Mannie’s life was an adventure that was filled with love, kindness, and caring. Mannie did not seem to know the meaning of “can’t be done.” There was always a way to make a meal large enough for whomever sat at the table and there was always a bed for anyone who needed one. Mannie always believed that no matter the circumstances, “we were the lucky ones.” Mannie and Poppa had a large and loving family.
Mannie is survived by her children David (Nola, Gregory, Kyle, Janessa, David), Catherine Herbert (Garth, Raven, Zephyr), Tom (Sharon, Krista, Samantha), Mike (Claude, Mike, Noah, Levi, Sean, Joel), Frank (Sabrina, Chandrea), Tim (Simone, Sarah, Jonah, CJ), Johanna (Spencer, Connal, Mary Jade), Theresa (Tivohn, Karly, Taylor), and Stephen (Vicki, Brendan, Erika, Jordan), Mannie will be missed by her brothers John, Tony and Steve as well as by her sister Jane Haque, she will also be missed by her many great-grandchildren.
Mannie was predeceased by her loving husband Charles “Poppa” Arnold Park. They married June 21, 1955 in Montreal, Que. Also, by her father Herbert William and her mother Elizabeth Mary (Behen), her sister Ruth Crowder, and brothers Bill, and Mike.
We would like to thank the many medical and support staff that made the final years of Mannie’s life as adventurous and loving as she could make it. We would also like to thank all the staff and patrons at the Gardenview Village for letting Mannie share her life with them.
Mannie was all about caring for those who were less fortunate than herself, in lieu of flowers she would want anyone who can, to donate to their local food bank.
Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Services.
