1930 - 2010
It is with great sorrow that the family of Edna Alvina Struik announces her passing on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook at 80 years of age.
Edna was born on January 11, 1930 in Peace River, Alberta. Edna lived in various towns in Northern Alberta as Miss, Hvarregaard, Mrs. Hardonk, Mrs. Ek and Mrs. Struik. Edna was a truly unique person and she will be forever missed. She was fun, loving, loyal, caring and had a memorable sense of humour. She survived her hard times with determination and enjoyed the good times to the fullest. Edna's door was always open and her infamous coffee was always on.
Edna is survived by her brothers Edward Hvarregaard (Mary) and Richard Hvarregaard, her daughter Joanne Kraft (Bruno) and her sons Edward, Alan (Rosalba), Ryan, Glen (Shirley) and Kevin Hardonk and many stepchildren, grandchildren and nieces and nephews, as well as long time friends. She was predeceased by her parents Edith and Thorvald Hvarregaard, her husbands Martin Hardonk, Ole Ek, and Bert Struik and also by John Lemoke.
A funeral service for Edna will be held at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 11:00 am. There will be a private family Interment at a later date. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in honour of Edna may do so to the: Canadian Cancer Society, 19 - 9th Avenue South, Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 2L9.
