Obituary of Mary Eleanor Wilson
Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
1936-2020
Born: January 23, 1936 in Kimberley, B.C.
Passed Away: November 11, 2020 at the Pines Special Care Home, Kimberley, B.C.
Our mother, Mary Wilson, was born in Kimberley, B.C., and was raised in Chapman Camp. She was the youngest of three children for Bill and Gladys Carter. Mom married Ken Wilson on November 3, 1956 in Kimberley. They began their married life in Calgary where Dad was working. Their first child, Nancy, was born shortly before they moved back to Kimberley. After they returned to Kimberley, Michele, Joanne, and David completed our family.
Mom was always supportive of her children. Whether it was driving us to school or the golf course, to camping in the back yard, playing basketball, or making clothes and costumes for us, she was always a big part of our lives. Mom was a big fan of the NHL, the Calgary Flames being her favourite team. She also followed PGA Golf, cheering on her favourite players. Mom loved to share these passions with us.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Gladys Carter, her husband, Ken Wilson, her sister and brother, Ruth and Alan Carter, and sister-in-law Margaret Carter, and her grandson, Nicholas Beddoes.
She is survived by her children, Nancy (Mario) Araujo, Michele Wilson, Joanne (Ross) Beddoes, and David Wilson; her grand children, Marissa (Chris) Bilcik, Zachary Van Ruyskensvelde and Taylor (Carlin) Beddoes; her great grandchildren, Gunnar and Gabby Bilcik; and her niece and nephews, Denise, Robert, and Michael Carter.
We would like to express our appreciation for the excellent care my mother has received from the staff at the Pines Special Care Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kimberley Special Care Home, “The Pines” would be appreciated.
A private service will be held in the spring.
Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Services.
