1932 - 2010
2 Timothy 4:7, 8a
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness.
Mrs. Janna "Jenny" Schalk, beloved wife of Gerry Schalk, passed into glory on December 14, 2010 at the age of 78 years. She was the loving mother of three sons and one daughter: Peter (Trudy), and their children Christopher (Melissa), Nicholas (Lisa), Lindsey (Kevin), Stephen; Stan (Crystal) and their children Kyle (Erin), Jaben (Sarah), Seth (Shannon), Chaim, Mikiah; Larry (Jeanette) and their children Morgan and Janna; and Patricia (Leo) Ludwig and their children Lisa, Tyrell (Samantha), Analee (Rodney) and Danielle. She was also a proud great Oma to three great grandsons. She is survived by four brothers and one sister: Lloyd, Jan, John and Evert Westra and Ena Westra Wamsteeker.
Jenny was born in Zuidlaren, Holland on April 2, 1932 and immigrated to Lethbridge, Alberta with her family in 1952. Married on April 12, 1955, Gerry and Jenny celebrated 55 years together. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and Oma, giving and receiving so much love. She endured a lot through sickness during the past 23 years, but received strength through her faith in her Lord. For 30 years she was an active partner with Gerry in the business they built - Kootenay Wholesale Ltd.
She was predeceased by an infant son, Ricky, and by her parents Pieter and Marchiena Westra. A celebration of Jenny's life will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at 1:30 pm at Knox Presbyterian Church (2100 - 3rd Street South) in Cranbrook. A private Interment was held at Westlawn Cemetery. No flowers by the family's request. Memorial tributes may be made to Knox Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or to the charity or your choice.
