Obituary of Tammy Lynn Hopkins
Please share a memory of Tammy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Tammy Lynn Hopkins nee Petersen, 53, of Cranbrook, B.C., passed away suddenly in Kelowna, B.C., on August 25th, 2020.
Tammy was born in Calgary, Alberta to Eric Petersen and Audrey Petersen (Chambers) but spent the majority of her adult life in Cranbrook. Tammy had a huge love for people and helping others. She always welcomed everyone with open arms. Her home was a revolving door to friends and family who knew they were always welcome. She loved and deeply cherished her children, her family, her friends and her dog Dozer. Tammy worked in the service industry for years and made many friends during her time in Cranbrook. She also worked for Interior Health in food services at the F.W. Green Home. She enjoyed working alongside her co-workers and the relationships she cultivated with the residents of the Green Home.
Tammy always fought hard for the things she believed in, if she loved you, you always knew that. Sugar coating was not her style. She had the most sentimental heart; that coupled with her kindness and honesty made her someone you wanted to talk to. She had so many close friends that she loved and admired.
Some of her favorite things included; having her older children come home to visit her in Cranbrook, spending time at home with her youngest son Dakota and step son Jayce, country music, spending time camping with family & friends at multiple lakes in the Kootenays including: Koocanusa, Northstar and Horseshoe. She had the biggest, most beautiful smile, contagious laugh and would light up a room when she walked in. She had a very special aura about her.
Her favorite country artist was Eric Church. She took pride in her home and loved her “beer drinking view” as she would call it from her front deck. she loved anything heart shaped and the color pink. Tammy was an amazing cook and was always inviting friends to family dinners where she would cook for everyone. Growing up we had many friends of hers that became “aunts & uncles”. She believed wholeheartedly that “Everything happens for a reason” and absolutely lived by that saying.
Tammy is predeceased by her Father; Eric Petersen, Mother; Audrey Petersen and Sister; Kim Carlson.
Tammy is survived by her children; Ashly Hopkins, Brandon Hopkins, Dakota Merkel, Crystal Petersen & Jayce Wellman and her former husband Bruce Hopkins. Her Brothers; Charles Carlson (Deanne Carlson), Stacey Petersen (Melissa Petersen), & Randy Petersen (Carolyn Zeleniski). Her many nieces and nephews as well as her step grandchildren.
There will be a Celebration of Life with details to be released at a later date.
