Obituary of James Curtis Norman
August 14, 1937 – August 7, 2020
With Sadness we announce the passing of James Curtis Norman “Curt” at the age of 82, at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
Curt was raised on the farm, with his two older sisters and two younger brothers in Winfield, Alberta. He obtained his degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Idaho in 1962. During his university years, he played Football, and continued as a semi-pro player for various teams in Southern California for 3-4 years, while continuing his new career as an Engineer. Whilst in California he learned to Ski on the slopes of Mammoth Mountain, which became one of his passions.
Curt’s engineering career took him back to Alberta, then across Canada and Internationally, largely in the middle east. Along his career path, he met and married his wife of 49 years, Adele Richards Norman. Later becoming a loving father to Sylvia, Michael, and Richard, then a proud grandfather to Katie, Audrey, Oskar, and Kayleigh.
Curt was an all-around outdoors man; he loved the winter months the most! He became a Ski Patroller at Sunshine Village, and Fortress for 15 years. In the summer months he loved riding horses and working on his ranch. Curt was a well appreciated friend who could always be relied upon. He loved a good debate as long as his opinion was agreed upon as the best one…..most of the time. He was a man who will be missed greatly and thought of often.
