Emily and I have been friends since Grade One at Gordon Terrace Elementary. One of my earliest memories with Em was at her birthday party in Grade One or Two. It was “fear factor” themed and it was an absolute blast. You could find Emily and I jumping on the trampoline for hours at a time. Em was an amazing gymnast and she taught me to do my first backflip. She jumped beside me for what felt like hours before I finally did it that day. I couldn’t have done it without her by my side, and I will never forget that feeling of excitement with her. We could be sneaky kids - sometimes I would forge a note to go on the school bus home with her, or she would walk to my house and then “ask-tell” her Dad she would need a ride home later. We would watch Jerry Springer and laugh until our stomachs hurt. We laughed a lot. Emily was always making people laugh. We shared another thing in common, that we had family in Kelowna, BC. In the Summer of 2008 my family helped Emily move in with her Mom in Kelowna. We always made it a priority to see each other in the summers growing up. Over the past few years we have kept in touch by messaging. Most recent messages include reminiscing on our hilarious and wild childhood, as well as some very special messages that I will cherish for the rest of my life, and read when times are hard. They will always be a reminder of our special bond. Emmy, I will carry your memory with me wherever I go. You will never ever be forgotten. I love you and I miss you so much. Rest In Peace my Beautiful Friend.
Love,
Sam
