I first saw Brent perform when I was a teenager and he was a part of a prestigious company at the Grand Theatre in London Ontario. I saw his every play and his Hamlet 3 times. I was a small town kid who was ribbed about wanting to be an actor. But when I saw him, I knew what I wanted. He was always my idol and inspiration. All these years later, I'm still in the biz. The biggest regret that I have is that I was never able to tell him just how important he was to me. I'll always think of him.

I first learned of Brent while living in Cranbrook in the mid 70's. I was shopping in the Mall and went past the cashier who was watching TV. I learned this was Bren'ts Mom and the store had allowed her to watch Brent in one of his first movies. Again, I met Brent in Calgary Car Rental I knew who he was but could not think of his name. We had a short visit before he headed off to drive home to Cranbrook. I have watched him starring in a few movies since that time. He came to my mind yesterday (Sept.19/20) and so I searched for him on the Computer. I am so saddened to be informed of his passing. I am delighted that I di have the chance to learn of him and meet him. He has made a great contribution to the Acting Industry.

We have lost a wonderful caring soul, when Brent would come home prior to his mothers passing, he would always come up to my mom's home, Lois in tow, they would spend the afternoon playing the piano and singing enjoying each others talents. My Mom was pretty advanced dementia, but could still bang out a tune. It meant the world to our family so see how much she enjoyed those precious moments. We were so blessed to have such great memories thoughts and prayers to all, a wonderful precious family.

I've been a fan of Brent Carver for over 50 years and was sorry to hear of his passing. We started UBC in the fall of 1969 and met at MUSSOC rehearsals and events. From Hello Dolly! to West Side Story and Sweet Charity, Brent lit up the stage while I sewed costumes and worked backstage. Our lives diverged in 1971 and I enjoyed seeing Brent's career success from afar except when I saw him onstage occasionally, in Rosencrantz and Guidenstern are Dead, with Beverly D'Angelo (Toronto 1975) and playing Lord Byron in an Alumnae Theatre production (Toronto, early '90s). There were movies and television too, One Night Stand (1978), Crossbar (1979), The Wars (1983), Street Legal (1989-94) and War of the Worlds (1989). I value my CD of the original Broadway cast recording of Kiss of the Spider Woman in which Brent's performance was a tour de force. My memories are of a fine man and inspired actor/singer/dancer. My brother, James Wallace, remembered and liked Brent also. I send my condolences to his family.

I am so sorry to hear of Brent's passing. I first met him back in the sixties when I dated his older sister. My next encounter was in a bar in Stratford Ont. in the seventies. I was having a beer with an old friend while our wives were out shopping, and in walks Brent. We had a brief conversation and he remembered me from sixties. I real nice and very talented man. My wife Barb and I send our condolences to Brent's family.

I got to know Brent at UBC in the 60's through the UBC Musical Society (MusSoc) and the production of West Side Story. I remember being in awe of his exuberant energy and talent. Over the years, as my life took me elsewhere, I would catch snippets of his career successes and be so pleased for him that he was excelling at what he clearly loved to do. He was taken too soon. My condolences to Brent's family and friends.

I was a theatre student with Brent at UBC and had the amazing experience of directing him in my final project. He was such a kind and generous soul and we remained in touch until his career took him up and away. I tried to follow all his successes and marvelled at his ability to remain true to himself. My condolences to all his family.
