Obituary of Doreen Ann Farncombe
1947 - 2020
Born in North Bay, Ontario, Doreen grew up in nearby small town, Powassan. She moved on to Kitchener's factories for work and then to Cranbrook, B.C., where she married and raised a family. Just 73 years old, her will to live still strong, but her body unable to resist her lengthy battle with cancer any longer; she died July 24, 2020.
Doreen had a pleasant and playful personality with just enough shyness for others to enjoy some light-hearted teasing, but along with that, she had an endearing way of letting you know you have gone too far. She was interested in others, from little ones to the elderly, building them up and being a friend. She did not back down from challenges, very determined, did not aim too high, but always hoped for better. She gave the most thoughtful gifts and cards full of meaningful expression, had a good sense of humor and a great smile.
Doreen loved animals and sought comfort in their therapeutic nature, especially cats. She expressed deep feelings through beautiful art and poetry and found great satisfaction in family, friends, and simple things. Good food and fun, rain on a tin roof while enjoying a cup of coffee warm inside her home, autumn leaves, a snowy day, singing, an old movie, or a wholesome TV show from the past. She was extremely gifted in crafting, a hard worker, and took pride in accomplishment. Meticulous, no one had better penmanship, and she was very organized.
Doreen was a very loving, caring person to her family and any who were close to her. She was always quick to alleviate the suffering of others, even strangers if she could. Enduring many struggles over her lifetime, she could identify with those who were trodden down and distressed.
Doreen was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and believed that after the best, most peaceful sleep ever, she would awaken in a world without suffering according to God's original purpose for humans on earth. —Gen 1:28, Job 14:10-15.
She had many genuine friends that shared her faith and wanted all those she had known throughout her life to be acquainted with her hope of God's promise for a better future. She taught her children to have a relationship with God. She loved getting together with others for spiritual occasions.
Doreen is survived by her 4 children Ritchie (Fil), Anita, Felicia (Brett) and reunited firstborn Jayne (Wayne), 7 grandchildren Tyson (Iralyn), McKenzie, Liberty, Mikayla, Jonathan, Meagan, Dustin (Tanya), 3 step-grandchildren Stefanie (Clay), Sarah, Caitlin, and 6 great-grandchildren Brayden, Colton, Hudsyn, Eastan, Lucas Jr, Brooklynn, 1 step great-grandchild Isaac as well as her sister Mary and nephews Peter (Ruby), Randy (Jessica), step-nephew David (Erin) and their children.
Doreen was known by God and confident he would not forget her or the work and love she showed for his name. —Gal 4:9, Heb 6:10
