1928 - 2010
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Lola Jeanne McKillop announces her passing on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 in Kimberley, British Columbia at 82 years of age.
Jeanne was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was born on April 25, 1928 in Kimberley, British Columbia and also raised in Kimberley. Jeanne spent a year in Washington State going to school before returning to Kimberley to graduate high school. She later became a Licensed Practical Nurse and was employed at the Kimberley and District Hospital. Jeanne spent several years there before relocating to the J. F. Hazard Clinic where she remained until retirement.
Jeanne loved the small town life and particularly enjoyed the view of the mountains from her kitchen window at her home in Townsite. Reading was a great passion of hers, and she always enjoyed going for coffee downtown with "the girls". Jeanne will forever be remembered for her kindness, compassion and generosity. She will always be in our hearts.
Jeanne is survived by her husband of 61 years, Donald McKillop Sr. of Kimberley; her son Donald McKillop Jr. of Calgary, Alberta; her daughter Karen Tucker (nee McKillop) of North Carolina; her son-in-law Brian Tucker of North Carolina; Michelle Mauldin (Carroll) of California; Michael Matilainen (nephew) of Seattle, Washington; and Lee Tidwell Jr. (nephew) of Colorado. She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Aliesha McKillop of Lethbridge, Alberta; Lindsay Davis of Edmonton, Alberta; Samantha McKillop of Calgary, Alberta; Hayley McKillop-Tucker of North Carolina; Jordan Tucker of North Carolina; and Jaryd McKillop of Calgary, Alberta; along with several other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her mother Genevieve O'Brien; her father Leo O'Brien; her sister Patricia Tidwell; her nephew Ian Tidwell and her grandson Wesley McKillop.
At Jeanne's request there will be no funeral service.
