1950-2010
Garth was suddenly taken from us much too early on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at home in Taber, Alberta at the age of 60.
Garth leaves to mourn his partner Marie; his mother Lil Christianson; along with his daughter Melanie Bromley (Jeff) and son Wade (Chantal) of Cranbrook; along with two wonderful grandsons Justin and Jacob, all of Cranbrook; his sister Lynn Downey (Laurie) of Oakville, Ontario and nephews Blair and Jackson, also of Oakville.
Born in Cranbrook, Garth grew up and graduated from Mt. Baker High School in 1968. Following that he apprenticed as a meat-cutter with Overwaitea in Kimberley starting in 1972, and after gaining his trade as a butcher Garth stayed with the company, working in many different BC cities until 1999. Garth then relocated to Taber, Alberta where he continued to ply his trade with IGA Foods.
Garth was an avid fisherman and loved spending time with a rod in his hand at the closest lake and fondly remembered spending summer days fishing at 'Seven Mile' with his father Glen.
Garth was predeceased by his father Glen Christianson in 2004.In lieu of flowers those wishing to remember Garth can do so by casting a line into their favourite river, stream or lake or by just taking a moment to enjoy the day.
Cremation took place, with arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service, and at Garth's request there will be no funeral service. There will be an open house for family, friends and all those wishing Celebrate Garth's Life at the Bromley's at 1432 Southview Drive, Cranbrook, BC on Friday, May 28, 2010 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
