I'm so dearly sadden to hear this news. Your Husband/Dad was one of my favorites and I went to school with Lindsay and had to deal with Franco on a business level and he was just simply amazing and super caring. Polite and friendly. My condolences to all of you!

I would like to offer my heartfelt condolences to Franco's family. I was so sad to read of his passing. Tonight I was talking to a friend about the best teacher I ever had, and I decided to look him up so I could write him a letter of thanks...some 35 years after he taught me in fifth grade at St. Mary's Catholic School in Cranbrook.
I was only ten years old, but right away I knew that Mr. Lesciutta (we called him Mr. L) was a man to be respected, admired, believed, listened to, and cherished. I'll never forget how instead of typical reprimand, he would make us do push-ups in the classroom (a fate which befell most often the boys in the class). He taught us many things, but the most important lesson we learned was how to love and respect ourselves. I was a little tomboy girl with dirty running shoes who played football with the boys at recess. I didn't feel pretty, and while I was a good student on paper, I didn't have much self-confidence. Mr. L believed in me, became a kind of mentor and father figure, even though I was too young to understand what either of those things were. I know I'm not alone when I say that I have thought about him quite often through the years, and I've even referred to him in my writing.
I'm so sorry I didn't get the chance to say good-bye as I would have liked, but I will in my prayers tonight.
You will never be forgotten, Mr. L. Thank you for playing such a vital part in my childhood, and for gracing me with the knowledge that there are beautiful souls in the world like you.
I will do a push-up for you tonight.
May you rest in peace.
Love always,
Trisha Cull

I was so sorry to read about Franco's death. Franco was part of the Old Guard at St.Mary's School (Cranbrook) when I joined the staff in 1985. As one of the veterans, his words of wisdom and slightly -,okay, very! - irreverent commentary were of great help and encouragement to me as a rookie teacher. He was ever ready to promote his Italian heritage and the students, in particular, got a huge kick out of the Italian phrases and admonishments he used! We crossed paths infrequently, after he made the move to SD5 but whenever we chanced to meet, he always had a kind word and we had a chuckle or two or ten, reminiscing. He was a lovely man. To Franco's family: you must miss Franco tremendously; may your sorrow and heartache ease by and by, with the love and support of friends and the many precious memories you hold , of your time together. Franco: no more pain, now. Requiescat in pace. Respectfully, Christina Blaskovich

I was devastated by the news of Franco's passing. My most sincere condolences to Sonja and family. Franco was an exceptional teacher, administrator, colleague, and friend. It was my undeniable pleasure to have had the privilege to work with Franco (a.k.a. Mr. L) and the entire staff of J.E.S.S.

I was shocked but not surprised to hear of Franco's passing, as he had been so ill for so long. I remember Franco from his Jaffray days as a hard working vice principal who put in long hours. He won the hearts of all his students with his humour, understanding, and intelligence. I loved working with him. He truly was one of the good ones.
Franco's love for Sonja and Lindsay was worn proudly on his sleeves for all to see. I cannot imagine how much he will be missed by his family. My deepest condolences.

I was very shocked and very upset when I saw the obituary of Franco. I was teaching at Jaffray when he became our Vice Principal. He was always helpful and encouraging when I talked to him about my students. He was a good friend. I called some people who were at Jaffray when he was there who would not have seen the obituary. They were all very upset and had good things to say about him. We were all very upset when he left Jaffray. I made a photo album for him. I hope you still have it.
Much love to all of you and know that he is with you in spirit.
Sincerely,
Karen Mader
