Obituary of Royce Gerald Jolie
Royce Gerald Jolie
November 29, 1925 ~ October 3, 2019
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Royce Gerald Jolie at his home in Marysville, B.C. on October 3rd, 2019 at the age of 93. Royce was very loved and will be sorely missed.
Royce was born November 29, 1925 in Nicholson, Ontario. With his family at the age of 5 moving to the Kootenays, he found his forever home. Royce entered the Navy in 1943 as an able Seaman on board the HMSC Discovery in WWII, later in his career working for Cominco Mines in Kimberley, B.C. for 42 years. In December of 1945 he married his sweetheart Edith Ellis, together raising a beautiful family.
Royce loved the outdoors, hunting, camping, fishing. Having a boat on Kootenay Lake for over 40 years, fishing with “the boys” November 11th was one of his greatest joys. Dad loved his family and friends and the countless hours spent telling stories, singing and laughing around a campfire at St. Marys Lake. His friends called him “Boogie”. At home he could be found woodworking, building and fixing things, more of his favorite pastimes.
Royce is survived by his children David (Shar), Judene, and Calvin (Adriana), grandchildren Michael, Sara, Ben, Stephen, Darcalee, Becky, Tricia, Caylan and Chris his eighteen great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren and brothers Scamp and Cyril.
He was predeceased by his parents Joe and Gladys, his wife Edith of 72 years marriage, his son Harvey and sister Toy.
A celebration of life will be held Friday November 8, 2019 at the Elks Hall in Kimberley, B.C. at 2:00pm.
A private family interment will be held at the Marysville Cemetery.
