Please share a memory of Annie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

April 27, 1920 - March 7, 2010.

"Announcing my departure on March 7, 2010, for the 'Trip of a Lifetime'. I leave with a heart full of gratitude for the almost-90 years I have been privileged to have.

I am grateful for my parents Rosalie (Spencer Wells) and Gordon Mathie; for my sister "Rene" and brother-in-law Jim Fraser, my sister Patricia and brother-in-law Alan Richards, and my brother Don; my dear husband and pal of 43 years, "Nip", his sister "Tiny" and their parents "Pop" and Ruby, and my second husband, Gordon Wilson, who have all pre-deceased me.

My heart is filled with gratitude for my sister Jean Scott, and her son Spence, Sonya and family; sister Pat's sons, Larry and his family, Rick and Marion, and Craig; brother Don's wife Agnes and their children, Don, Sue and Bruce; sister Rene's children, Roseanne, Jim, Mary, Ellen, Sylvia and Fiona, and their families; Tiny Downing's family, Mel and Carole, Alice, Bob, Ruby and JP Rioux, Billy and Johanna, and their families; my son Bryan and daughter-in-law Judy and their children , Jason, Chris, Tim, Heather, Dawn and Amber, and my daughter Patty and son-in-law Ron McColl and their children, Heather, Bryan, Lisa and Maureen; for 7 great-grandchildren; for aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; who each added something special to my life; and for the many individuals whose friendship I enjoyed over the years.

I was born in Brandon, Manitoba and raised in McAuley and Rocanville, Saskatchewan. I ventured west to Kimberley as a young woman. I took my nurses' training at Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary then nursed at Lacombe Hospital. These were not only the beginning of a wonderful nursing career, but of wonderful friendships that have lasted my lifetime. What a great bunch we were!

Nip and I were married in 1946 and had such a good life together! We enjoyed, together and individually, many community activities, good friends, many happy holidays, fishing, camping and huckleberry picking in this beautiful country. Nip died in 1989. His family and this community have continued to bless my life. I have so much to be thankful for!

I am so grateful for such a loving and supportive family and many dear friends. I have been blessed by having God's guidance in my life. I leave filled with gratitude, believing that 'another day has just begun, for death is but to greet the dawn, and not the setting sun'."

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Kimberley United Church on Saturday, March 27th at 3:30 p.m., followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mission and Service Fund of the United Church of Canada, or the charity of your choice, would be appreciated.

Condolences for the family can be offered on-line on the Kimberley United Church website www.kimberleyunited.ca (see: "Remembering Betty" and leave a message).
