Obituary of Aldo Borsato

Please share a memory of Aldo to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

1924 - 2010

Aldo "Kinky" Borsato was born in 1924 in Michel, British Columbia where he met and married Bernice Pasiaud. They had five children: Arlene (Ed) Komperdo, Roger (Pat) Borsato, Denise (Mel) Shypitka, Marie (Tom) Little and Bernald (Scott) Smith.

Kinky's career in mining took him to Cassiar, British Columbia in 1959. During his 29 years there, he was very involved in the community, serving as the fire department chief, mine rescue instructor and president of the community club. After the passing of his beloved wife Bernice in 1987, Kinky retired and returned to the Cranbrook area.

Kinky's family was as important to him as he was essential to them. The 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren (another due this year) were his pride and joy. Kinky divided his time equally between each family, attending everything from sporting events to graduations and weddings. Christmas at Grandpa's was an epic and highly anticipated event which no one wanted to miss!

Hunting and fishing were important to Kinky and he especially cherished the time spent at the cabin in Corbin with his life-long friends.

Kinky was the foundation of our family. His character will guide each of us going forward, and his love of family lives on in us all.

Aldo (Kinky) Borsato passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 12, 2010 in the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the: Heart & Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon, Cranbrook Unit, #101, 105 - 9th Avenue South, Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 2M1.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Cranbrook on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 1:00 pm with a reception to follow. His Interment will take place at a later date.
