Obituary of Nicholas Fudikoff
Nick passed away peacefully on February 25, 2010. Nick was born on August 20, 1919 in Benito, Manitoba. In 1939, he married Annie Popoff with whom he shared 62 years of marriage until her passing in 2001. Nick and Anne lived in various places in Saskatchewan and B.C., eventually settling in Kimberley in 1946. Nick worked for Cominco Ltd. until 1968 when he decided to pursue his dream of owning his own business. The family relocated to Marysville where "Nick's Used Car Sales" provided many people with reliable vehicles over the years. A few years later, he built "Marysville Car Wash and Launderette", eventually expanding it to include a gas station and store, becoming "Nick's Mohawk and Groceries". This is still a thriving business in the hub of Marysville. Over the years, Nick accessorized his business with mobile homes, recreational vehicles and real estate. His vision eventually developed into "Marysville Enterprises Ltd." and to this day, many long time residents still refer to that area as "Fudikoff Corner". Nick and Anne moved onto Cranbrook where they enjoyed a pleasurable, contented life surrounded by their family, worked productively side by side and spent many hours and years tending their bountiful gardens, especially their roses. Even though he lived with profound heartache and sadness after the death of Anne, he gave much love and devotion to his family for the rest of his days. Dad taught us many lessons in life. He taught us that self-motivation, willpower, determination, and hard work can enable you to obtain your dreams and goals.
Nick leaves to mourn his son, Bill of Kimberley, B.C.; daughters, Winnie Moore (Murray) of Kimberley, B.C.; Bernice Connell (Jack) of Trail, B.C.; Annette Bennett (Ken) of Lake Cowichan, B.C.; and Cindy Touzin (Kevin) of Cranbrook, B.C. as well as eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Nick was predeceased by his wife Annie in 2001, his parents Nicholas and Agrafena and eight sisters and brothers - Bill, Polly, Anne, Diane, Larry, Cecil, Mary & Elizabeth.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
"May you and Mom dance together forever at the Rosebud Hall in Heaven"
