Obituary of Donald Alfred Doucette
"DAD"
1922 - 2013
It is with great sorrow that the family of Donald Alfred Doucette announces his passing on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook at 90 years of age.
Don was born on April 24, 1922. He was the son of Joseph and Rose Doucette (nee Guinard). He was raised in Rollo Bay, PEI. He served in the RCAF as an air gunner from 1943 - 1945. After his wedding in 1945, he lived in Edmundston, NB and then moved to Port Cartier, QUE in 1962 where he worked as a railroad engineer. Don retired in Calgary, AB and then moved to Kimberley where he spent his last two years.
Don loved his initials. DAD. He loved his family with all his heart. He always had a warm smile and a thank you, and appreciated everything done for him. He was a gentle peaceful soul with a sharp wit and a sense of humour. Right up until his passing he was the DAD - telling jokes and keeping up his concern for Lucienne and his children. He overcame many health issues coming out of it with a smile and happy to be alive.
Don's enjoyed woodcarving and spent many enjoyable hours making his famous nativity scenes, which he gave as gifts. He also enjoyed baking bread and gardening. He hand built his fishing boat and he never missed a Remembrance Day Celebration.
Don is survived by his beloved wife Lucienne to whom he was completely devoted and loved dearly for 67 years; his children Linda (Murray) of Kimberley, BC; Carol (Carson) of New Brunswick; Tom (Nicole) of Port Cartier, QUE; Donna (Jacques) of Quebec; David (Louise) of Port Cartier, QUE; Susan (Bob) of Calgary; Marc of Calgary; his brothers Vernon (Dorothy), Joseph , Randy (Ruth); and all his many grandchildren great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his son Bill; brothers Lawrence (Patricia), John (Winnifred), Rene (Dolores), William and Ken (Helene) and sisters Germaine, Margaret (Reggie).
We love you Don, DAD, Grampa and that place in our hearts that is part of you will always feel your kindness and love.
