May 19, 1929 - December 23, 2012

John Margison, aged 83, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2012 surrounded by his family. Born in Thurnscoe, England on May 19, 1929, John, the son of John Margison and Helen (Ratcliffe) Margison, had a varied work life as a Coldstream Guard at Buckingham Palace, a bobby in Yorkshire, and then went on to mining in England, and various areas of Ontario and British Columbia. Known as "Big John" in the mining community, his physical strength was legendary.

John loved to participate in sports of all kinds, and was an avid golfer and dart player. He also enjoyed building anything from houses to rock gardens to wood furniture. He was a very kind, caring, and hardworking husband and father, He will always be our hero.

He is survived by Edna Margison, his loving wife of 62 years; along with their five children, Gloria, John, Angela, Wayne and Dean; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; his two sisters: Annie Hendley and Maureen Trbovic; and many other nieces, nephews and relatives.

A Celebration of Life for John Margison will be held at the McPherson Funeral Service Reception Room in Cranbrook, BC on January 18th, 2013 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
