Obituary of Nevina Emily Damstrom

1921 - 2009

Mrs. Nevina Emily Damstrom, our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 88 years of age.

Nevina was born in Edmonton, Alberta on February 1, 1921 and was a long-time resident of Jaffray, British Columbia. She was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary, her Seniors Group, Girl Guides of Canada, the United Church, was the Charter Pin of the Canadian Cancer Society and a member of the Quilter's Guild at Fort Steele.

Nevina leaves to mourn, her two sons: Warren (Eileen) of Cranbrook, Wayne of Jaffray; two daughters: Wendy (Gary) Salanski of Jaffray, Sharon (Vern) Barr; 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, a sister Norma (Bert) Breakwell and a brother Gordon (Rae) Blaine.

A funeral service for Nevina took place at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Jaffray, British Columbia on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 2:00 pm. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Nevina's honour may do so to the: East Kootenay Regional Hospital Palliative Care, 13 - 24th Avenue North, Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 3H9 or the: Jaffray United Church.
