Victoria peacefully passed away at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook B.C. on December 11, 2009 at the age of 100 years with her daughter Kathy at her side.
Victoria was born in Dehinda, Saskatchewan (south of Regina), April 16, 1909. She moved to Creston in 1934 with her family, where she took care of her ailing mother and helped look after the family farm for several years. She met her husband Tony who worked in the area, for the C.P.R. They were married on June 17, 1944. Kathy, their devoted daughter was born out of this loving relationship. After the war they settled in Cranbrook until they moved to Creston in 1971 where they enjoyed many wonderful retirement years. In 1991 they returned to Cranbrook to be closer to their family and to renew old friendships. Besides being a devoted wife and mother, Victoria always tried to help many of those in trying times. She was always there when called upon whether it involves simple or more complicated tasks, no matter what the occasion or situation.
She was dedicated to God and enthusiastically supported the Catholic faith and all it stood for. She was a member of the Catholic Woman's League and Saint Anne's Sewing Circle. Victoria also did charitable work through The Woman's Institute during her time in Creston. Family and friends were her greatest love and treasure. Victoria had a love of life and a passion for gardening. She loved to make and watch things grow. Many of her happiest times were when she was in her flower garden. She also spent many hours on her other numerous hobbies which included knitting, sewing and crocheting.
