1931 -2009

On December 5, 2009 Mr. Dean Beamish of Cranbrook, British Columbia passed away at his home at the age of 78 years. Dean was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on May 30, 1931 and began working for CPR in Moose Jaw in 1948, retiring in Cranbrook in 1996.

Dean was predeceased by his parents William "Bill" and Annie (Cook) Beamish of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; his sisters: Mae (Ed) Pickering of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Susan (Henry) Hoy of Surrey, British Columbia, Bertha (Don) Elliott of Cranbrook, British Columbia, Eileen Beamish and Wilma Bernice Beamish, both of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; brothers: Doug (Gladys) Beamish of Horshan, England, Richard Beamish of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, and Ted (Dodie) Beamish of Calgary, Alberta.

Dean loved fishing, woodworking and gardening. He is survived by his loving wife Alma (Ferguson) of 58 years; sons: Ron and Steven (Susan); his sisters: Helen (William) Graham of Delta, British Columbia and Barbara (Dennis) VanKoughnett of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Dean is also survived by many nieces, nephews and many life long friends.

Dean's memorial service will take place at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honour of Dean may be made to the: Heart & Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon, Cranbrook Unit, #101, 105 - 9th Avenue South, Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 2M1or the: Canadian Cancer Society, 19 - 9th Avenue South, Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 2L9.
