To the Burwash family,Once again, I am praying for you all during this sad time. David was a fun-loving, hard-working, kind, genuine and gentle man and I will miss him as well. I now think I went to cbk a couple of weeks ago to see him before he passed. He touched people in my family as well, my girls were shocked and saddened and my siblings have fond memories of him as well. Dear Carole, Kim, David, and ChrisAnnette and I were saddened to hear of the passing of David. We visited Cranbrook only 8 weeks ago and David was so healthy & happy. Life is fragile and unpredictable but we would never have expected such shocking news.I worked with David for only 1 year in 1988. Despite such a brief working relationship, the Okamura and Burwash families have maintained a friendship lasting over 20 years. David was a kind and compassionate friend. His stories and pranks were legendary. He made me laugh and always put a smile on my face. When I visited your home in August, David took me aside into your home office and we had a wonderful conversation. He showed me photos of David Jr's new office and spoke of what a great time he was having "working in retirement". He spoke proudly about each member of his family. He told me about how he was enjoying life in Cranbrook. I told David that I had always remembered the words of wisdom he had given to me years ago........... "If something keeps you awake at night, you've got make a change because nothing is as important as being happy."We regret that we are unable to attend David's funeral. We wish to send our sympathy. We are so very sorry and saddened to hear the news of Dave's passing. He was a truly nice man who had that way about him that made it always enjoyable to be in his company.When we saw him in Winnipeg a couple of years back, he was still the same old Dave, having a laugh, smiling and just being Dave.The world will be a poorer place without him. Our family is thinking of you through this sad time and hope that it helps that so many people share your grief.
