Obituary of Lydia Fast

1924 - 2009

It is with great sorrow that the family of Lydia Fast announces her passing on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 85 years of age at her home in Cranbrook, British Columbia.

Lydia was born on January 15, 1924 in St. Boswells, Saskatchewan. Lydia met Albert through mutual family and friends. They were married in 1942. They lived in Saskatchewan where Albert was teaching until 1958. They moved to British Columbia and lived in Surrey, Garibaldi, Kimberley and Abbotsford before their move to Cranbrook in 2003.

Lydia was an awesome caregiver, homemaker, and employee. She worked as a homemaker and in retail sales. She was very proud of all of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. We will all miss her for her hugs and special thoughtfulness.

Lydia was survived for a short time by her husband of 67 years Albert, but he passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 97 years of age.

Lydia leaves behind her children: Wally (Juliette). Rick (Mary), Gwen (Jake), Lorna (Jim), Barb; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; plus her sisters Olga and Elizabeth and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son Ray, granddaughter Jodi, her sister Ann and brothers: Emil, Erik, Hans, Paul and Ernest.

A funeral service for Lydia and Albert will be held at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 11:00 am.
