1917 - 2009

It is with great sorrow that the Johns family announce the passing of Doug in Joseph Creek Care Village on June 11, 2009 at 91 years of age.

Doug was born July 17, 1917 in Butte, Montana. At an early age his family moved to Calgary. In 1925 the family moved to Cranbrook where he has resided since. He worked 8 years for Cominco in Kimberley before hiring on with CP Rail. Doug retired from CP Rail in 1978 after 33 years of service. Doug enjoyed travelling, camping, and fishing. He was a great story teller and loved to reminisce and share his many memories of his years in the Cranbrook area.

Leaving to mourn Doug is his loving wife of 67 years Olga, two daughters: Lorraine [Ernie] Schoenbaechler of Cranbrook and Shirley [Ken] Jeffries of Cranbrook, 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Also left to mourn is Doug's sister Doris Pelletier of Creston.

He was predeceased by his parents John and May Johns, sister Edna Dundass and Brother Leslie Johns.

A memorial service will be held at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook on Friday, June 19 at 1 pm.
