1953- 2009
Evelyn "Eileen" Beaton, 55, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2009 at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta with her loving husband Norman by her side.
Born in Inverness, Nova Scotia on Oct.16, 1953, Eileen was the daughter of the late Joseph Angus and Violet (Wiswell) MacDonald. In 1980, Eileen moved to Kimberley, B.C., and this became her second home. Here she married Norman Beaton, the love of her life. During 29 wonderful years of marriage, Eileen lovingly dedicated her time, tenderness, and energy to her husband and family. She was second to none as a wife, mother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law, and friend.
Eileen always had something on the go. If she was not baking in the kitchen, she would be having a tea party with the neighbourhood children. Eileen loved to be outside and she spent many hours gardening and taking long walks with her dog or friends. She was always there for others. Friend or stranger, she would land on doorsteps with freshly baked cookies, a comforting hug, and a shoulder to lean on. She was always a caretaker at heart and a true Cape Bretoner. Eileen constantly nurtured others, putting their needs before her own. She will be remembered for her quiet, gentle ways, her love of the fiddle and bagpipe music, her open mind, her total acceptance of others, her infectious sense of humour, her love of books, and her lovely smile. She was never happier than when she had a full house of family and friends. Eileen touched the lives of all that knew her. Her home, a place full of love, music and good food, welcomed all. She will be forever missed and loved by family and friends.
