Obituary of Amy Catsirelis

It is with great sadness that the family of Amy Catsirelis announces her passing on September 18, 2008 at the F. W. Green Home in Cranbrook, British Columbia.
She was born in Cranbrook, brought into the world by Dr. F. W. Green on October 7, 1927. Amy grew up in Yahk, British Columbia and during World War II, knitted gloves and other items to send to the soldiers overseas. She moved to Cranbrook to work at the Royal Bank until she married John Catsirelis in 1951. Amy was a devoted and loving wife and mother whose family was her first priority. She cared for John throughout his struggle with the first diagnosed case of Alzheimer's in Cranbrook and started the first local Alzheimer support group.
Amy is survived by her daughters Penny Bateman and Patrice (Warren) Golding, sons Peter (Pam) Catsirelis, Wallace (Patti) Catsirelis, Brock (Debbie) Catsirelis and grandchildren Clive Batemean, Stephan Golding, Dale Golding, Michael Golding, Barry Catsirelis, Andy Catsirelis, Johathan Garrison, Crystal Garrison and Jeremy Catsirelis, niece Zoe Afaganis and nephew Perry (Elsie) Afaganis.
Amy was predeceased by her husband John, her son Brent, her parents George and Annie Warren, her brother Victor and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Helen and Tom Afaganis.
Amy's funeral service will be held at Christ Church Anglican in Cranbrook on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow at Westlawn Cemetery.
