Obituary of Herbert George Oram

July 14, 1919 - August 15, 2008

We sorrowfully announce the passing of Herbert Lloyd George Oram on August 15, 2008. Lloyd was born in North Vancouver, B.C. on July 14, 1919. He lived most of his life in Kimberley, B.C. He had a zeal for amateur radio, was a member of the United Church Folk Group, enjoyed creative writing and capturing stories of his life. Lloyd worked for Teck Cominco starting in the 1940's and remained with the company for 38 years until his retirement in 1980. He held many positions of responsibility at the concentrator during his years with the company. Lloyd moved to Invermere in May of 2005 to be closer to family.

Lloyd was predeceased by his loving wife Dorothy Eunice Oram on February 22, 1999.

He is survived by his son Claude (Raylene) Oram and daughter Lynn (Bob) Birch; his four grandchildren: Michelle (Mitch) Burton, Mark (Bobbi) McDonald, Tracy (Stephen) Welch, Colin (Michelle) Oram; his eight great grandchildren: Kiersten and Curtis McDonald, Alexandra and Tessa Burton, Cameron and Zachary Welch, Ashley and Ethan Oram.

A funeral service for Lloyd will take place on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 1:00 pm at the Kimberley United Church. Memorial donations in honour of Lloyd can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon, Okanagan and Kootenay Area Office, 4 - 1551 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna, British Columbia, V1Y 9M9.
