Obituary of Rodney Strong

October 15, 1950 - July 12, 2008

After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Rod (Smokey) passed away at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital on July 12, 2008 at the age of 57.

He is survived by his loving wife Kathleen (Kate), his mother Sharen, his sisters Heather and Laurel (Kim), his brothers Jamie (Jeannie) and Bill, his in-laws: George (Shirley), Pat (Bernice), Ralph (Linda), Florence (Bob), and Ethel (Gerald); his cherished nephews and nieces, his very special friends and his extended family.

Rod (Smokey), born in Enderby, British Columbia on October 15, 1950, was a long time Kimberley resident. A gifted upholsterer, he was well known in the community as the owner of R and B Upholstery. Smokey was an avid reader and enjoyed nothing more than being in the great outdoors hiking, hunting, fishing and camping with his special friends and family.He has left us too soon; he was dearly loved and will be truly missed.

At Rod's request, there will not be a formal service. Friends and family are invited to join in a celebration of his life, to be held on Sunday, July 20, 2008 from 2:00 until 4:00 pm at Centennial Hall, Kimberley, British Columbia.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Rod may do so with a donation to the charity of your choice.
