Obituary of Harry Caldwell
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of long time resident Bud Caldwell on June 12, 2008 at the age of 83.
Bud was born at the St. Eugene's Hospital to Harry and Lilian Caldwell. Bud was the third of their five children. Bud married Maxine in 1956 and they became realtors. They opened Caldwell Agencies in 1964 and in 1967 Bud became a Notary Public. Bud and Maxine were very involved in the community and in 1987 they were the first couple to be named Cranbrook's Citizens of the Year. Bud loved Cranbrook and our mountains and he was absolutely certain that we lived in the best place in the world. He loved to play golf and and he watched hockey his entire life. He especially cheered for teams that had a Cranbrook connection and was so pleased when someone from Cranbrook brought home the Stanley Cup. Years ago he enjoyed watching the Royals play and for the last ten years, even when he was ill, he hated to miss a Kootenay Ice game. Bud's greatest gift was his kindness and genuine interest in people. Within minutes of meeting someone, he would know their life story. Bud touched many people's lives and always believed in giving a helping hand. He treasured his family and friends. Dignity, honesty, fairness, courtesy and honour were the guidelines Bud lived by.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 18th, 2008 at 2:00 pm at the Alliance Church located at 1200 Kootenay Street in Cranbrook, British Columbia.
