Obituary of Ren Haskell

 September 11, 1922 - September 6, 2008

The family of Ren Haskell sadly announce his passing on September 6, 2008. Ren was born in Calgary, Alberta on September 11, 1922.

In his early years he worked as a Park Ranger in Bow Lake, Alberta where he met his wife Teddy. He raised his family in Calgary prior to moving to Kimberley in 1979 where he was employed at the Pines Special Care Home until he retired in 1987.

Ren served with the Canadian Armed Forces during W.W.II, was wounded while stationed in Italy, and was a decorated war veteran. He had an article published in "Our Canada" magazine marking the 60th anniversary of W.W.II. Ren had a strong work ethic, was an avid outdoorsman, loved his many animals, enjoyed bowling, and was always willing to lend a helping hand where he could, and many friends helped him as well.

He will be greatly missed.

Ren is survived by his wife Theoda (Teddy) of 58 years; daughters: Bernadine of Calgary, Christine (Keith) of Sherwood Park; sons: Allen (Joan) of Kimberley and Stuart of Sherwood Park; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; as well as sisters Marion and Elinor.

He was predeceased by his grandson Lee and brother Neil.

At Ren's request, there will not be a funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital Oncology Department, #13 - 24th Avenue North, Cranbrook, BC.
