Obituary of James Thacker
December 6, 1930 - August 15, 2008
Jim passed away peacefully on August 15, 2008 at Joseph Creek Care Village at the age of 77 years.
Jim was a dedicated and generous husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
He is survived and loved by his 3 sons: Dean, Bruce and Arden. Jim was also blessed to have held and been loved dearly by his 7 grandsons: Kyle, Cole, Dane (Dean & Sue), Aaron, Quinn (Bruce & Karen), Ethan, Samuel (Arden & Tracey). He was the oldest of 5 siblings and survived by: Lawrence (BettyAnn) Thacker, Doreen (Millen) Tadey, Audrey (Don) Rushcall, Sid (Terry) Thacker and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was born in Fernie, BC and later resided in Baynes Lake, Wardner and Cranbrook. Jim was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, hiking, cross country skiing, gardening, flying, huckleberry picking, coaching hockey and baseball, and dedicated many hours volunteering at church, and in the community. Jim was a faithful servant to God and will be missed by all who have met him.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, 328 14th Avenue South in Cranbrook on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Michael Hayes officiating.
A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in honour of Jim to: Young Life, c/o 328 14th Avenue South, Cranbrook, British Columbia V1C 2X4 or Cranbrook Minor Ball, or the First Baptist Church.
