Obituary of Peter McMichael
Peter McMichael, aged 92 years, passed away peacefully in Cranbrook, B.C. on February 10, 2008.
He leaves to mourn, his daughter Anne of Cranbrook; his son David (Janette), grandchildren Hayley and David all of Grimsby, England. He was pre-deceased by his older brother, William.
Peter was born in Hazel Grove, Cheshire, England on September 29, 1915. In his youth he played drums in a dance band and was a Scout Leader. During WWII, he served in the British Army and served in the Middle East, North Africa and Italy.
He married the love of his life, Joan on November 12, 1947 and they spent 58 happy years together. They lived in Branhall, Cheshire and later Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire where they raised their family. He joined the Cleethorpes Cricket Club where he played for many years. He also enjoyed travel, camping and hiking throughout his life. After he retired, Peter and Joan immigrated to Cranbrook, B.C., Canada where they settled into a new life.
Peter took up cricket, cross country skiing, golfing and his new passion in life, curling. He spent many happy winters at the Cranbrook Curling Club. He continued to have an enthusiasm for life and an interest in all around him. One of his last adventures was to go on an Alaska Cruise with his daughter, Anne.The greatest love of his life was his family.Funeral service in honour of Peter McMichael will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 18, 2008 at Christ Church Anglican, Cranbrook, B.C.
