Obituary of Maria Brigida Young
Please share a memory of Maria to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Young. Although she left this world unexpectedly on November 29, 2007, she has now joined her dad in heaven. Maria was born January 31, 1962 in Cranbrook, BC.Maria loved to buy gifts for others so Christmas was always her favourite time of the year. Also during the Advent season she enjoyed baking and her family and friends were the lucky recipients of wonderful treat filled trays.Maria was separated for many years and thus became a very independent young woman while caring for her children. She was a carpenter, plumber, electrician, mechanic and gardener around her home with skills she learned from her dad before his passing.Maria received a liver transplant in February of 2005 and was fortunate enough to have a second chance at life. She embraced this chance and was determined to live life to it's fullest. She enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter and they would spend hours creating wonderful crafts.Maria's laugh was contagious and she always found something to laugh about. Seldom was she ever with out a smile on her face. Her sunny disposition made all whom she met feel welcome. She will be terribly missed by the joys of her life: her two children, Amanda Young from Cranbrook and Andrew Young (Nanaimo) and granddaughter Paige Young, mother Gaetana Barone, sisters; Francesca Barone, of Vancouver, Anna Gagnon (Ken) of Delta, Mena Pocha (Brain) and one brother Nunzio Barone (Ayesha) of Kamloops, former husband David Young, of Creston, father-in-law Jim Spence, in-laws Rick Young, Calgary, Bill Young (Vi) and Gwen Young, Creston. She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews; Krista Whitehurst (Todd), Jeff Gagnon, Angela Gagnon all from Delta; Brennan and Devon Pocha; Katyna Zahkary and Nytasha Barone of Kamloops; Dan Young (Christine) of Calgary, Billie Loewen (Jason) of Sparwood and Spencer Young, Calgary. She is also survived by her great nieces and nephews; Adam Whitehurst of Delta, Josie and Coal Young of Calgary and Jordis Loewen of Sparwood, many aunts, uncles, cousins in BC, Alberta and Italy as well as many friends and her very loyal puppy, Petey. Maria was predeceased by an older brother Joseph Barone, an older sister Mary Barone, father Gaetano Barone (1992), cousin Nancy Clarotto, two uncles, Nicole Barone and Carmen DeRita of Italy and one aunt, Domenica Avagano, Italy.Prayers will be held at 7:30 pm on Friday December 7, 2007 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Cranbrook.
