I just came across this notice, and I am shocked and saddened. I went to Elementary School with Darryl in Selkirk, MB.
I have a lot of wonderful memories of hanging out with Darryl in school and after school. I can thank him for teaching me how to play chess! Many times he would have me over for a game. We would also play Mad Scientist with his chemistry set and make a total mess!
I remember that his mother was also my sister's Brownie leader at Centennial. I have to agree with others who say that Darryl was always curious, always learning, and had a personality full of life. At times he could be such a character - did I mention Chesterfield Inlet?
My family left Selkirk and our paths parted, but I still consider him a friend. My heartfelt condolences to both families.
