Obituary of Clara Wood

Passed away suddenly August 7, 2006 at the Cranbrook Hospital.

Clara was born June 27th, 1923 and raised in Hythe, Alberta. She moved to Calgary where she met and married Wesley William Wood in 1947. They raised three children together, daughter Wenda (Floyd) LaMarsh now of Calgary, son Dale Wood of Calgary and son Barry(Janice) Wood of Irricana, Alberta. Clara is also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, brother Albert Westad of Hythe Alberta and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Wesley, brother John, killed in WWII and six sisters Ann, Mary, Ida, Heni, Evelyn and Judith.Clara was a long time member of the Royal Purple and RCL Branch #67. She also enjoyed bowling. Clara and her family were very fortunate to have the wonderful friends and neighbours who helped to make it possible for her to remain independent and free in the place she called home for so many years. How blessed she was.

There will be a memorial service held at 1:00 pm on Friday August 11, 2006 at McPherson Funeral Home, Kimberley, BC.

The family has requested that donations in memory of Clara be sent to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 1212 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC V6H 3V2 or to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital 13 - 24th Avenue North, Cranbrook, BC V1C 3H9.
