Please share a memory of Philip to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Phil Bednorski just five days after the love of his life was laid to rest. Phil was born Dec 5th 1921 in Mayook, B.C. living the majority of his life in Cranbrook. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1942 - 1946. After returning to Cranbrook he met Flo and they were married in 1949. Phil worked as a mechanic for Haddad & Gartside Motors later known as Cranbrook Motors for 35 plus years. He was a well known mechanic and people would travel miles to make sure he was the one who worked on their carburetors as he was such a perfectionist. He was a gentle caring man who made family matters his top priority. He enjoyed fishing and camping at White Swan Lake with family and friends. Family gatherings were also very special to Phil. One of his greatest loves was being a Grandpa and Papa. Phil was predeceased by his wife Flo of 58 years of marriage. Flo passed on Nov 6th 2007. He is survived by two daughters Carol (Pud) Downey and Linda (Dan) McNeill both of Cranbrook. Granddaughters Charlene and Jolene Downey of Calgary, Alberta, Lori McNeill of Cranbrook and Darcie McNeill of Kelowna, and Michelle (Tony) Vendrasco of Langley, B.C. and their children Nigel and Ashley. He is also survived by one sister Julie Kennedy of Cranbrook, sister in law Ellen(Gene) MacDonald of Wardner, B.C. as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family will always cherish his memory and are comforted that he is no longer in any pain. In lieu of flowers donations in Phil's name may be made to the charity of your choice.
