Obituary of Ellen Mary Allen

Ellen passed away at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, B.C. on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at the age of 84 years. She was born on April 12, 1923 in Great Paradise, Newfoundland to Douglas and Louisa Byrne. After her mother's death she was raised in St. John's Newfoundland by her aunt and uncle Joe and Margaret Mulrooney. Ellen was very active with the local Senior Citizens Centre, traveling and performing with their musical group, as well as in the children's programs in St. Mary's Church. Ellen loved to write poetry and has been published locally many times. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Bill, children, Margaret Gunther of Wallace, Idaho; William (Patricia) Allen of Lacombe, AB, Elwin (Judith) Allen of Kalispell, MT, Douglas Allen of Cranbrook, B.C. as well as nine grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary in infancy. A Funeral Service will be held in Newfoundland at a later date. Donations in Ellen's memory may be directed to a Charity of the Donor's Choice.
