Dorothy passed away peacefully at her home on March 12, 2007.
Dot was born March 24, 1924 in Red Deer Alberta to Annie and George Staples. The Family moved to Cranbrook in 1928 where they established the Staples Dairy on the present day site of Staples Crescent and Kootenay Orchards Schools, which Dot had the honour of naming.
Dot was predeceased by her husband Maurice Stanley and her eldest son James Maurice (Sandra) of Prince George.
She is survived by two sons, David Earl (Laura) and Leonard (Bernadette), as well as seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Dot was well loved in the community for her generous spirit and zest for life. She was an active member of many community organizations, including, a fifty-year member of the Rebekah Lodge, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Catholic Women's League, Santa Claus Union, EK Historical Association and the Senior Citizens Association. She was also an avid fan of many sports and coached and supported all types of kid's sports.
She will be sadly missed by many friends and family alike.
