My greatest sympathy and condolences to Jordan and his extended family for their loss. I never knew Jake except through anecdotes and stories, but I'm sure his spirit will live on in all gallant acts and wherever laughter and humour are shared.

When I think about Jake, I think about the summer of 1997. I've only been on a quad once in my life and it was with Jake. He and Al Jeffrey took me out and I rode on the back of Jake's quad. After we'd finished touring through some back country, we ended up down by a river. Jake proceeded to run he and I through the water and he ducked down so that I got totally soaked every time we rode through the water. Jake laughed at the girly squeals that came out of my mouth every time I got splashed with the cold river water.I am not an "outdoor girl" so this was a new experience and a highlight of my summer. Jake was a true, great and rare friend.

Jake was a young man that we knew as a member of the same graduating class as our daughter, Jen Allan (Lawrence). Jen and Jake became good friends when they were both living in Cranbrook in 1997. Jen had come through some difficult times personally around that time and Jake was the kind of caring and fun friend she needed. He made her laugh and helped her to find the joy in life again. We are so thankful that he was there for her at that time in her life. Even though they went in different directions from that point, Jen has never forgotten Jake's friendship. We are all deeply saddened by your loss. Our prayers are with you.

Dear Smaldon and Jewett Families,I am so sorry to hear about Jacob's passing. Clay Richardson told us back in the spring and we tried to find his obituary and were very hopeful. This is incredibly sad news. However, like a wise lady who told me once, we are all 'just visitors'. I will continue to pray for your family who are suffering daily this incredible loss. I will never forget Jacob's sense of humor, style and his pride in his brother and other siblings. May the angels bring Jacob to God and His peace to you all.Anya and the Myers clan.
