Passed away suddenly at the Cranbrook Regional Hospital, leaving behind his loving wife of 52 years Barbara, 3 children, Debbie & Fred Waterer (Vanderhoof), Bill and Renee Harriott (Calgary), and John Harriott (Chase). Also 6 grandchildren, Ryan & Mark Kary, Melissa & Devon Harriott, and Toni Lynn and Kevin Wood and one great-grandchild Jeremy Remezoff.
Bill grew up in Simcoe, Ontario and met Barbara Dunlop on a bus in Windsor. They married in 1934. Dad was the 1st Nuclear Power House Mechanic licensed in Canada. All the children were born in Ontario then they moved in 1965 where Bill was the Maintenance Supervisor at Columbia Cellulose in Prince Rupert.
From there the family relocated to Cranbrook where Dad worked at Skookumchuck Pulp Mill. 1975 saw the family move to a farm in Vulcan Alberta where Bill worked at the Cominco Fertilizer Plant in Carseland until he was offered a teaching job in Ft. McMurray. Jumping at the chance to teach his love of trades, he taught Millwrighting and Machining for the next 15 years and then retire back to Wasa Lake where he had built his own home during the previous four summers. Golf, bowling, and gardening were his passion along with being a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #3032.
Mostly Bill loved to talk, sharing stories and memories with anyone who would listen. He shared his love of life with his family and friends. Dad will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Bill's memory to his family (Box 55, Wasa BC V0B 2K0) for a memorial park bench at Wasa Lake.
