Obituary of Michiel Lucieer
Michiel Lucieer passed away October 14, 2006.
He was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands on January 12, 1914, the son of Abraham Lucieer and Adriana Bakker. After obtaining an engineering degree in the Netherlands Michiel worked in Ghana, Africa, then known as the Gold Coast, in the gold mines. He immigrated to Canada in 1957 and had a long career in the mining business working for various companies in Canada, living in Montreal and Vancouver for a number of years before retiring in Cranbrook. He took great pride in being a lifetime member of the Association of Professional Engineers.
Michiel was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joan and his brother Adriaan.
Survivors include his three children, Bram Lucieer of St. Louis, MO, Ginny Lucieer of Fort Collins, CO and Michiel Lucieer of Adelaide, South Australia. He is also survived by his sister Wilhemina (Zus) Kroes of The Netherlands as well as twin brothers, Bram Lucieer of Vancouver Island and Rudolf Lucieer of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. In addition, Michiel is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren in Canada, the US and in The Netherlands. He leaves behind his good friends and neighbours who will all miss his many interesting and funny stories of his long life.
A graveside interment will take place at 3:30 pm on Friday October 27, 2006 at the Kimberley Cemetery, Kimberley British Columbia.Donations in honour of Michiel may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
