Obituary of Robert Hugh Cameron

Robert Hugh Cameron, born April 14, 1917 in Wasa, BC, passed away October 3, 2006, age 89 years.

He worked in logging camps, railway tie camps and on the highway driving truck eventually gaining employment at Cominco Mine as a motorman underground. In November of 1942 he enlisted in the 5th Coast Regiment at Victoria BC. He proudly served in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe before being discharged February 1946.On returning to Kimberley after the war he again had employment with Cominco as a Development Miner.He retired from the mine in November1976 with 35 years of service all of which were at the Sullivan Mine. Cominco called him back several times to teach the ways of the Sullivan Mines operations to miners from Ontario mines. He was an active member of S.O.A.R. and a Legion Member for 40 years.

He was married to his wife Georgina for 48 years and he missed her very much. Robert will be lovingly remembered by his two children, Robert (Eva) of Victoria BC and Bonnie (Bob Robbins) of Kimberley B.C., and his two grandchildren, Zachary and Matthew Robert also leaves two sisters, Margaret Moore of Creston B.C. and Lois Ford of Edmonton AB.

Robert was predeceased by his wife Georgina. He will be sadly missed by all of his many friends.

A Memorial Service took place on October 6th, 2006 with interment at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Creston B.C.
