Dear Murray Susan and Mike,
We loved your mother and we have such fond memories of her, way back to Jaffray days long before you came along. She was such a help to Grandma Rosen; she brought in fire word, helped to bake the buns and out in the barn too. She looked after us kids; every summer with 15 minutes of arriving in Jaffray, I went out to catch grasshoppers as bait and your Mum helped me bait the hook! She had a maroon bike that Ann my sister, was always able to use when she came for the summer. She loved to braid Gay's( my other sister) hair!
As is it turned out, Hosmer, near Chilliwack, was her home and we danced in the same dance hall in Hosmer....Madelyn was 10 yr. older than me so we werent at the dance hall in the same year!
It was always special when Madelyn was in Jaffray, she was a part of our family. She took us on picnics to Rosen lake in Grandma's old Plymouth in the early 50's. She probably would have worked at Rosen Lake with the Dance hall, cabins and restaurant. My mum so enjoyed her company too and always wanted to visit her when my Mum came to Cranbrook to see us.
These are just a few memories I have of your Mum and we know that you 'll cherish your memories too.
With our love to you Jon and Ruth Rutledge
