I was saddened to read of Shirley's death. As all her friends and neighbours have said, she was a very lovely person, so caring and thoughtful, and devoted to her family. She was my next door neighbour for six years and for that I was very lucky. I have one of her beautiful afghans, which she gave me when I moved. Very special. She will be missed. Sam and I had the good fortune to have Rich and Shirley as neighbors for many years. Even after we moved up to Gold Creek, when our birthdays came around, we could always look forward to a birthday greeting accompanied by a funny joke from Shirley. Shirley will always be remembered as a great neighbour, the night we moved in at Balment Gardens she net us with a freshly baked plum cake as a welcome gift. Maria and I had many visits outside Maria at the flower bed and Gerry when they were shovelling snow. There is definitely a special place in heaven for her. God's speed friend! Maria and Gerry Giles

When Theresa and I moved to Cranbrook, Shirley was living across the street. She introduced herself and took us under her wing.She went driving with me as I earned my "N", showed us where everything was and introduced me to what I am convinced was half the town. She also kept us supplied with a constant supply of perogies and cabbage rolls. On August 20th she lost her battle with cancer and went to join her beloved Rich. Our hearts go out to her family and friends. A new angel is in heaven.
