GOLBECK, Calvin John May 15, 1958 ~ August 1, 2019 It is with overwhelming sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Calvin Golbeck on August 1, 2019. Calvin passed away at the age of 61 with his family by his side. Calvin was born in Outlook, Saskatchewan on May 15, 1958 to Jean and Erik Golbeck. In 1970, when Calvin was twelve the family moved to Kimberley, BC after his father got a job at the Sullivan mine. In high school Calvin met the love of his life Judy in 1976, they later married May 17, 1980 the day prior to Mt St Helen's eruption! Calvin was a millwright and worked at the Sullivan Mine for twenty-four years, until it shut down in 2001. He then worked away on maintenance shutdown circuits until 2014. Finally, as a retirement job he worked as ski technician at the Kimberley Alpine Resort in the rental and repair shop. Calvin suffered from myocarditis in 2004, and in December 2015 he suffered a stroke. Calvin was a fighter to the end, giving his all for recovery. Grandson Westley was Calvin's greatest pride and joy, seeing him would light up his face, put cheer in his voice and have him speaking of the overwhelming love he had for Westley. Spending time together brightened his whole day. Prior to Calvin's stroke he enjoyed many activities that the East Kootenays provided; camping, fishing, boating, hiking, skiing, and golf. He enjoyed working with his hands, whether it be building from scratch or repairing what needed to be fixed, you could find him in his workshop tinkering away. Calvin took pride in his workmanship and was always there to lend a hand when needed. Raising his children brought him happiness and fulfilment. Calvin was an involved parent in his children's activities and sports. He coached their soccer and baseball games, taught them to fish, camp and dirt bike, proudly guiding them into adulthood. Judy and Calvin found pleasure in travelling the Caribbean and western Europe where they would visit Judy's family in Germany. He is survived by his loving wife of thirty-nine years Judy, children Clayton (Roxy), Deedra (Kurt), Brandon, grandchild Westley, mother-in-law Adeline Peltzer, brother-in-law Gary Peltzer. Siblings Larry (Tish) and Brad, nephews Chris, Sean, Kyle and many cherished family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents Erik and Jean Golbeck, and father-in-law Victor Peltzer.
