Obituary of Betty Louise Marshall
Please share a memory of Betty to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
1924 - 2012
It is with profound sorrow that the family of Betty Louise Marshall announces her passing in the early morning hours on Monday, July 9, 2012 at Rosen Lake, British Columbia. She was 88 years of age.
Betty was born on May 9, 1924 in Taber, Alberta. She married Maurice Marshall on September 9, 1942. The early years of their marriage took them to various locations while he pursued his study of medicine, until they finally settled in Lethbridge, Alberta. Betty and Maurice had six children. Betty had a very adaptable personality that served her and her family well through the years, especially after she developed personal health issues.
Betty quietly accepted whatever came her way with grace and a special brand of stubbornness that we all grew to love. She was very adept at knitting, spent countless hours playing card games and solving jigsaw and crossword puzzles. Later, having lost the majority of her sight she complained very little and found ways to carry on. Her tenacity was very much admired.
Betty is survived by her six children: James (Cathryn) of Atlin, BC; Betty Jean (Keith) Charlesworth of Lethbridge, AB; Robert (Joan) of Enderby, BC; Allan (Ruth) of Jaffray, BC; Patricia (Don) Robb of Lethbridge, AB; and Donald of Lethbridge, AB. Also left behind are her six grandchildren, her seven great grandchildren and her sister Patricia DeBuysscher of Cranbrook, BC. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Maurice Myers Marshall, her parents James and Vera Douglas, sisters Eleanor and Marjorie and her brother Gordon.
The family is deeply grateful for the excellent care provided by Dr. A. Billet and Dr. J. Weaver. We would also very much like to thank The Good Samaritan West Highlands Staff and her caregivers in "The Cottage", and Ashley and Terry, for their special brand of care and compassion that sustained the indomitable spirit that was Betty!
A Celebration of Betty's life will take place at a later date.
Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service.
