Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Heather, James and Thomas, during this difficult time. We have made a donation to Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots in memory of Matthew and his work with the natives. LAMP is a mission organization that travels to the northern native communities to share the story of the love that Jesus showed in His death and resurrection. Bill flew with them for 5 years. ~Bill and Diane

Kathy you have expressed so lovely our entire family's immense sadness. Dave and I are so happy we were able to have had such a great visit just 11 days prior to his passing. I left that visit thinking how joyful he was and full of life. He will be so missed!

we feel honoured to have known Matt and to call him a friend. So many memories, and so fortunate to have spent the time together the day before his passing, hiking, post hike coffee, and then dinner at our home. Standing at my window waving good-bye to Matt and Heather as they left that evening will remain in my heart forever....little did I know that would be our final farewell....swift travels our friend....you have left a legacy in your wake for being such a wonderful person on many, many, many levels. Our family is so very heartbroken to lose our brother in law and uncle so suddenly. Matt was so full of life, so energetic, so special. It's very hard to comprehend how things can happen in life and leave us lost and in such sadness. While Matt has been away from home for so many years our early years as cousins living beside each other are very close in my heart. I remember most about Mattie ( yep that's what I called him) was his humour & beautiful smile. To my cousins, his brother & sister Edd & Kathy I cannot express how sorry I am that you lost your brother. To Heather & his children my heart goes out to you. Matt was loved & I always thought I would see him again. This is a strong reminder that life is precious & short. :heart::heart:
