GWEN WILLS
(nee SHERRET)
Gwen Wills passed away with her children by her side on Sunday, March 3, 2019. Gwen was born May 16, 1937, in Coalhurst, AB, the youngest of 11 children born to Andrew and Margaret Sherret. She moved with her family to Cranbrook at a young age and spent the rest of her life there, with short stints living in Vancouver and Bermuda. She was a proud graduate of the Mount Baker High Class of '55 and always enjoyed time spent with her classmates at their yearly reunions.
She married the love of her life, Ron Wills, in 1963 and they enjoyed many wonderful years together until his passing in 2004. Gwen had a long and happy career with the City of Cranbrook and upon her retirement travelled to many destinations both in Canada and further afield with family and friends. Her last 14 years were spent with her constant companion "Patches" who brought much joy to her days. She enjoyed her weekly card games and dinners and movies out with friends. She also had a lot of fun with her good friend Anna volunteering at the Tourist Information booth in the summers.
She was predeceased by her husband Ron, parents Andrew and Margaret Sherret, her brothers John, Cecil, Dave, Chuck, Gordon and Jim, sisters Velda, Hazel and Helen.
She is survived by her sister Carol (Norman) Rediger, her sisters-in-law Lorraine and Annette Sherret, in-laws Shirley (Ken) Craig, Tiny Wills, Malcolm (Alice) Horie, Pat (Dee) Horie and Cathie Horie and many nieces and nephews.
Missing her the most will be her son Jamie (Kathy), her daughter Margaret (Bob) and her beloved grandchildren Adele and Will.
Thank you to Dr. Witten for his care over many years and a special thank you to the frontline workers at Joseph Creek Care Village (you know who you are) for the kindness shown to our family over the last two and a half years. It will not be forgotten.
A service will be held in May 10th at 1:00 pm at McPherson's Funeral Service.
Donations may be made to the East Kootenay SPCA , PO Box 2, Cranbrook, BC, V1C 4H6.
AS WE LOVED HER, SO WE'LL MISS HER - A LOT.
