1945 - 2019
Margie Gibb passed away peacefully at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook on Monday, February 25, 2019. She was 73.
Margie was born Margaret Esther Greenlaw on March 22nd, 1945 in Kaslo, BC. She lived most of her life in the Windermere Valley working as an elementary teacher in Invermere, Windermere and Canal Flats over her 26 year career. She was highly regarded by both colleagues and students. She loved life, enjoying many activities gardening, skiing, windsurfing to name a few and was an avid reader. Her most passionate pastimes were golf and painting. Family and friends were very important to Margie and she was quick to let others know how special they were.
Margie is survived by her husband of 50 years Jim; children Malcolm (Katharine) and Myrna (Jeff); grandchildren Mackenzie and Eleanor; brothers Jack and Larry (Coriene); nephews Ron (Marlene), Kip (Theresa) and Ken (Kristen) and nieces Dolores and Kristine (Shawn). Margie was predeceased by her father Malcolm, stepfather John and mother Florence "Mae".
A celebration of Margaret's life will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Christ Church Trinity in Invermere at 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted for a scholarship fund in Margaret's name to Rocky Mountain School District # 6, PO Box 430, Invermere, British Columbia, BC V0A 1K0. Cheques can be made payable to Rocky Mountain School District #6 with a note that it is a contibution to the Margie Gibb Memorial Scholarship Fund.
