Obituary of Colin James Sloan

Please share a memory of Colin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Colin James Sloan 1960 - 2019 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Colin James Sloan on Feb 12, 2019 in Cranbrook, BC. Colin was born in Trail, BC on April 24, 1960 to James and Doris Sloan. He grew up with one sister, Patsy, and started to form bonds with his lifelong friends. It is also where he found and married the love of his life, Carol, July 3, 1982. Together, they raised 2 daughters, Amanda and Kimberly, and a son, Thomas. His love of machines came at an early age whether it was riding or driving or fixing something he crashed, so automotive mechanic was a natural choice of profession. He loved his family and friends fiercely and would do anything to help those he cared about. He was a proud father, but an insanely proud grampa who had to have all the toys (boat/quads etc) "for the kids of course". Colin enjoyed camping, quadding, fishing, mudbogging and anything outside and with a machine and engine. But most of all he loved to spend time with his family and friends. A quiet dinner to crawling around playing with kids to a 'few' beers with friends. He truly loved life and enjoyed every day. He was a beloved trustee of the Cranbrook Eagles Local #3032, and very proud of the work he helped accomplish there and believed we all have something to give to others. Colin is predeceased by both his parents (Nannie and Grampa) and is survived by his loving wife, Carol, his sister Patsy (Glen), his three children Amanda (Kevin), Kimberly, Thomas (Leanne), six grandchildren Samantha (Darcy), Skyler, Alexander, Naois, Lincoln and Lachlan, one great granddaughter Sophia. Also surviving him is his 'daughter and grandson by choice' Maria and Jacob, as well as his son-in-law Brad, niece Jessica and several cousins, extended family and so many friends. Memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or Alzheimer Society of Canada as both charities were close to his heart. A Celebration of Colin's Life will be held at the Cranbrook Eagles Hall on Saturday, March 9th, 2019 at 2:00 pm with a reception to follow. Anyone who knew Colin, knew he loved to share his words of wisdom. Let his last words of advice to you be, "Don't whoa in a mudhole". Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service. Condolences for the family can be offered at: www.mcphersonfh.com
